Alaska is the destination for the adventurous traveler. In addition the popular glaciers that everyone sees on a cruise there are other recreational activities you can find and enjoy in Alaska. The Sitka National Historic Park can be found in Juneau. In the center of Alaska is the Denali National Park, which is recognized world and is linked to Anchorage by one of the most scenic railways in the world.

The most known in Alaska is in Juneau, Glacier Bay National Park. Visitors come to this park for outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, hiking and rafting. Even for those who prefer activities Inside is the Alaska State Museum in the city that shows the History Of Alaska, along with the Russian Federation and the American influences. Nearby is the historic City of Sitka, which has the Sheldon Jackson Museum, the oldest in Alaska.

The largest city in Anchorage, Alaska is that it actually has half the total population throughout the state. There are some interesting historical museums such as the Anchorage Museum of History and Art and the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum. The city also boasts the impressive Alaska Zoo and Chugach State Park is ideal for hiking, skiing, camping and climbing, nearly everything the adventurous traveler wants to do.

When it comes to scenic trips the best options is the Seward Highway / rail Alaska stretching from Anchorage to Seward. The railway passes by the Chugach Mountains and the waters of Turnagain Arm. You can see Dall sheep, mountain goats, beluga whales, salmon and other animals while taking this train through the country side.

Even if you travel by car is more your thing then there is the Denali Highway. This road runs east-west across the Alaska Range land as beautiful as that found in Denali National Park. You will see impressive views and a number of wildlife while on this trip.

If animals of view is more your style then there Katmai National Park, which has wood platforms where you can see brown bears gather for salmon in July and September, just a few feet to get a personal experience. For water of mentality is that Frederick Sound is extremely reliable whale watching every summer. You can get up close and personal with whales in a small boat from Petersburg. In 1995 they even had a incident in which a whale jumped into the boat of whale watchers.
