Any person who traveled the Alaska Marine Highway (Ferry) in winter?

I'm hoping to go to Washington this winter without flying Alaska. Be that summer ferry trips are great, but winter travel are worth it? Or is it too dark and cold?

Cold, yes, but still very beautiful. Note that only the northern part of Alaska is haunted by the darkness during the winter. The days are shorter is true, but you still has lots of light. I have found that winter trips tend to be more rocky. Seasick pills and lots of reading material:)
