Sales tax on vacation rentals?

I have a vacation condo rental that I have intention to rent it myself. I live far away of the unit. How could the local tax authority (the city) where my unit is determined that I'm not paying sales tax (it is not, of course) or what my sales tax should be, though I told them? What can the failure to pay penalties if I pay them (but of course it does!) THANKS! Thanks for that. I think the sales tax as "accommodation tax" especially in tourist areas are the norm in this CISA, at least the agencies that make condominium. My question is "how could you know?"

Many cities have their own web site for information on business taxes. Some cities have no taxes on lodging, but some have strong penalties depending on where your property. If liability may also ask if licenses or permits are required.
